Case Study 4

CASE DESCRIPTION:

The patient presented with a failed implant in the aesthetic zone due to improper buccal placement and significant facial bone loss. After carefully removing the failing implant, Dr. Nik encountered both vertical and horizontal bone defects.

To address this, Dr. Nik employed the Sausage Technique, as described by Dr. Istvan Urban, for effective bone regeneration. During the first stage, bone augmentation was performed using a Ti-reinforced, non-resorbable dense PTFE membrane, combined with a mixture of autogenous bone particles and Mineross allograft from Biohorizons Camlog UK. After 7 months of smooth and successful healing, Dr. Nik placed a Conelog Progressive implant, supplemented by additional bone grafting with a resorbable striate and collagen membrane using the Mini Sausage Technique to ensure enhanced bone stability.

To optimise soft tissue support, Dr. Nik also performed a connective tissue graft from the palate for improved tissue thickness.

This complex approach demonstrates Dr. Nik’s advanced skills in bone regeneration, aesthetic implant placement, and soft tissue management, positioning him as an ideal mentor and expert for other dental professionals dealing with challenging aesthetic zone cases.
