Immediate Implant Placement with Soft & Hard Tissue Management
Case Study 6
CASE DESCRIPTION:
The patient presented with a failed and discoloured Upper Left Canine (UL3) in the aesthetic zone, while the Upper Left Lateral Incisor (UL2) had been replaced with a dental implant 7 years ago, following a similar protocol.
Dr. Nik performed a minimally invasive extraction of the failed tooth and immediately placed a Conelog Progressive Implant using a pilot guide to ensure optimal 3D positioning. The design of the implant threads provided excellent primary stability, even in areas with compromised bone quality. Additionally, the implant platform’s design allowed for deeper, subcrestal placement, while platform switching and the secure deep conical connection helped preserve the surrounding bone structures.
To address the bone gap, Dr. Nik utilised Mineross Allograft from Biohorizons, promoting optimal bone regeneration. A connective tissue graft, harvested from the palate, was used to support the buccal tissue and enhance the papillae for a natural aesthetic result. During the interim period, the natural tooth was fixed to a temporary titanium abutment, acting as a provisional restoration.
After 10 weeks of smooth healing, Dr. Nik used intraoral scans to create a final zirconia restoration on a custom anatomic abutment, designed by Techniques Dental Lab. The final result highlighted the stability of both the hard and soft tissue, especially in the area of the lateral incisor implant placed 7 years ago, demonstrating the long-term success and vitality of Dr. Nik’s aesthetic implant work.
This case exemplifies Dr. Nik's exceptional skills in immediate implant placement, soft and hard tissue management, and the creation of long-lasting aesthetic restorations, making him an excellent resource for mentorship and complex aesthetic implant referrals.
