Gum Tissue around a tooth can recede leading to increased sensitivity and further complications as well as unnatural aesthetics.

Soft tissue regeneration refers to the process of repairing or regrowing the gums and other soft tissues in the mouth that have been lost due to disease, trauma or surgical procedures.

Types of Soft Tissue Regeneration

  • Overview

    There are numerous types of soft tissue regeneration procedures that restore or improve the health of the gums around your teeth and implants. These procedures help restore gum health, protect your teeth and implants, and improve the overall look of your smile. Dr. Nik will work with you to determine which approach is best for your situation.

  • Recession Coverage

    Sometimes the gum tissue around a tooth can recede, exposing the tooth root. This can lead to sensitivity or even tooth loss if untreated. Recession coverage helps by grafting healthy gum tissue over the exposed area, protecting the tooth and improving the appearance of your smile.

  • Connective Tissue Grafting

    If your gums have receded significantly, Dr. Nik might use a procedure called connective tissue grafting. This involves taking a small piece of tissue from the roof of your mouth (or another area) and grafting it to the affected gum line. This method helps thicken the gums and cover any exposed roots, reducing sensitivity and preventing further recession.

  • Peri-implantitis Treatment

    Treatment: Peri-implantitis is an infection around a dental implant that can cause gum recession and bone loss. The treatment typically involves cleaning and decontaminating the affected area and sometimes grafting tissue or bone to help regenerate lost tissue and protect the implant.
