Not All Full Arches Should Look Like Dentures

Full-arch dental implant treatment isn’t just about replacing missing or failing teeth - it’s about restoring a natural-looking smile that feels like your own. Too often, people assume that a full set of replacement teeth will look bulky or artificial, like traditional dentures. But with modern techniques, that doesn’t have to be the case.

This approach is patient-centred and facially driven, meaning every decision is based on you - your facial features, smile line, lip support, and overall appearance. The goal is not just to give you teeth, but to create a smile that naturally fits your face.

In this upper jaw (maxillary) rehabilitation, the goal from day one was clear: to create a result that looks and feels like natural teeth - not a denture. This type of restoration is known as an FP1 full-arch, meaning it replaces only the visible part of the teeth, just like your natural smile, without adding unnecessary bulk.

Planning Your Smile First

Before any treatment began, everything was carefully planned using advanced digital technology. We created a 3D model of the patient’s mouth, allowing us to design the final smile first—how the teeth would look, how they would function, and how they would fit the face.

Because this is a facially driven process, the position, shape, and proportion of the teeth were designed to complement the patient’s unique features—not just to fit the bone.

This is a key difference in modern implant dentistry: we don’t just place implants and “see what happens.” Instead, we plan the final result first and then place the implants exactly where they need to be to support that outcome.

A Same-Day Transformation

The failing upper teeth were gently removed, and six dental implants were placed using a precise guided approach. At the same time, bone and gum tissue were carefully rebuilt where needed to support a natural result.

On the very same day, a fixed temporary bridge was fitted. This means the patient never had to go without teeth and could leave the clinic with a confident smile immediately.

Why the Temporary Teeth Matter

The temporary (provisional) bridge plays a much bigger role than most people realise. It’s not just there for appearance—it helps shape the gums as they heal.

Over the following weeks, this temporary bridge was carefully adjusted to guide the gum tissue into a natural, scalloped shape—just like the way gums sit around natural teeth. This step is essential in avoiding the flat, artificial look often associated with dentures.

The Final Result

Once healing was complete, the final bridge was made using a high-strength zirconia material reinforced with a titanium structure. This combination offers:
