Management of Keritinized Tissue with Dental Implants
Case Study 10
CASE DESCRIPTION:
This life-changing transformation involved a patient who had neglected her oral hygiene due to chronic medical issues, resulting in failed upper and lower dentitions. Dr. Nik carefully planned the treatment, opting for implant placements and locator overdentures to restore both function and aesthetics. The primary advantage of this approach is its exceptional cleansability, enhanced friction of the prosthesis, and excellent support for the lip and facial structure, ensuring a natural, youthful appearance.
Dr. Nik placed 4 Biohorizons Camlog implants in each jaw with precision, immediately providing the patient with provisional dentures for temporary restoration. The soft tissue surgery, which included an apical repositioning of the split-thickness flap during the implant exposure, was a critical step in developing a thick, attached layer of keratinized tissue around the implants to ensure long-term stability and health of the soft tissues. The final implant overdentures were expertly designed by Gosia Ciepiela to ensure optimal fit and function.
The patient was thrilled with the transformative results, demonstrating Dr. Nik’s advanced skills in implant placement, soft tissue management, and the design of functional, aesthetic overdenture restorations.
This case highlights Dr. Nik’s ability to restore complex cases, making him an excellent choice for referrals or mentorship in full-mouth rehabilitation and implant overdentures.
